About Me

Liam Berry is a tenor trombonist currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, under the mentorship of Tim Albright and Michael Clayville. With a strong foundation in orchestral, wind ensemble, and solo performance as well as big band playing and chamber music, Liam strives for versatility across musical settings.

Liam has participated in events such as the Southeast Trombone Symposium and the Southwest Trombone Conference. He has been recognized with several awards, including First Place in the Sheboygan Youth Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition and Second Place in the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble Young Artist Competition. In 2024, he was a semifinalist in the Southeast Trombone Symposium Tenor Excerpts Competition and received an honorable mention in the Southwest Trombone Conference Solo Competition. Liam has also had the honor of performing in masterclasses for respected trombonists such as Peter Steiner, Jonathan Randazzo, Christopher Buckholz, and Megumi Kanda.

Liam's ensemble experience is extensive, featuring performances with the Lawrence University Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band, where he has held principal positions. His versatility extends to musical theater and opera, with credits in productions such as The Consul and The Prom.

An active chamber musician, Liam has been a dedicated member of various trombone trios, quartets, and choirs, further refining his collaborative skills. In recent months, his trombone quartet the 4Tes performed the world premiere of Helder Oliveira’s Reaffirmations and performed a recital featuring a variety of works by composers ranging from Anton Bruckner and Gustav Mahler to John Williams.
